Many men and women who are trying to lose weight turn to Vitamin B1 supplements. This vitamin is known to increase energy levels and speed up metabolism. Vitamin B1 was discovered in 1910 by a researcher by the name of Umetaro Suzuki of Japan. He made the discovery while trying to find a cure for Beriberi. Thiamine Pyrophosphokinase works with magnesium to synthesize the Thiamine Diphosphate. Thiamine Triphosphate responds to amino acids, reducing the growth of bacterial fungi in plants and animals. The health benefits of Vitamin B1 are not completely known to the medical field. While the daily recommended dose is very small, tests conducted on volunteers who daily consumed at least 50 milligrams of Vitamin B1 showed increased mental abilities. Futher tests are being conducted to determine if this vitamin can help slow or eliminate the effects of Alzheimer’s. A recent study shows links between the lack of Vitamin B1 and children with Autism. These studies were conducted on their hair and urine samples. A group of autistic children were given a test. After taking a Vitamin B1 supplement for two months they were tested again. Almost all of the children made significant improvements on their test scores. Vitamin B1 is a substance our bodies need in small amounts to assist with proper functioning of the heart, brain, and central nerve system. Since the required amount is so low, most people get their daily recommended dose without any real effort. In rare cases, people can suffer from a Vitamin B1 deficiency.
